Topic: This Stuff Will STICK TO YOUR PRINTER BED!

Hey everyone, in my quest to find anything that would stick the plastic to my kapton tape bed better, I came across something called Screen Printer's Adhesive.  It's designed to be used on heated screen printing beds and is REALLY sticky.

I just tried it and it worked PERFECT!

The brandd I got was "TEX Flash" Screen Printer's Adhesive.  It is distributed by GSG Distributing out of Tulsa OK, or Houston TX.  I got it from a friend who owns a print shop here in Texas.  So far I have had zero troubles with the print sticking to the bed...AND it seems very easy to remove the print once the job is done.

Just wanted to share that bit of info...:)

Have you compared it to using hairspray? I know a lot of people love that stuff.

Thanks for the heads up! If we can get some comparisons to other commonly used stickers, then it might be quite useful for the community. What does it cost to get, and how many prints does it last for?

Definitely, I am interested in seeing a comparison too!

I will test it this afternoon, however, I would need to know what kind of hair spray to buy.  I would imagine something like an aerosol White Rain, etc.  Suggestions?  Thanks, Kev

PS: I used White Rain in the aerosol can first...this stuff sticks WAY better.  Another side benefit: when the part is done, it's a lot easier to remove from the printer bed than White Rain!  This product is aboput $12 per aerosol can....HOWEVER, I have only sprayed the bed ONCE, and have printed 4 parts off.

I use this cheap stuff that I got for a buck. Some no-brand name.

I don't think the quality is important.

I'm currently using Suave extreme hold 11oz aersol, works perfect.

Re: This Stuff Will STICK TO YOUR PRINTER BED!

I tried Suave extreme hold.  That's some good stuff, and if it works for ya, it's a lot cheaper.  As for me, it seems a lot harder to get the printed item to release with the hair spray.  Also, I had to make sure that the bed was coated really good in order for it to stick.  It finally stuck though.  I had to get a scraper and pry it loose once it was finished.  With the stuff I got from the print shop, I can actually get the print off with my bare hands.  I would say, if hair spray works for you, then I see no need to change it.  I just couldn't get it to stick for me at first.  I will say that the spray I'm using lets me work several prints before adding chemical to the bed.  It also is VERY consistent in all temp settings I have used.  I guess its a matter of preference and need.  If hair spray's not working for you, then you might give this stuff a try.  Hope that gives good info.  Happy printing everyone.

I'm going to try glass pretty soon. I also ordered some cans of the stuff vkm083185 recommended. I'll report back hopefully this weekend with some comparisons between it and hairspray, assuming it arrives on Friday.

I bought some pieces of glass but I'm not sure which hair spray to use. Are there any recommendations for european brands, better yet for brands available in Austria or Germany? I also thought about using non-permanent spray glue but that stuff is expensive. smile

Re: This Stuff Will STICK TO YOUR PRINTER BED!

First test of Tex-Tite #3 Flash Adhesive Spray:

vkm083185 is correct in that the first layer will stick willingly enough, and quite interestingly, once the bed is cool after a print, you can easily remove the print by hand.

I had some edge curling - I'm not sure I gave the spray a fair trial though, as the print wasn't fully enclosed. I have an issue at the end of an ABS spool where the filament will catch on other areas of filament in the spool, and the extruder wheel rips the filament in half sad

When I get that fixed I'll report back with some more tests.

Also worth noting - every place I found that carried this stuff online had a minimum order, so I had to buy five (!) cans. If anyone in the lower 48 wants to buy one off me, let me know. I won't mark them up.

I'm having mixed results with Tex-Tite #3. Yesterday's print stuck very well - but it also stuck *too* well, and had the same difficult time removing the finished part as I would with hairspray.
