Topic: Printer not recognizing port

Hi,

I recently updated Marlin Sanguino firmware on my Melzi motherboard for my 3d printer, and now I want to print.
Problem: The port COM3 is not being recognized by the pronterface. I went into device manager, and COM3 was under 'Other devices' and i made sure that this was recognized as a Port. Now, when I try to connect the printer to pronterface, this is the error I get:

Serial error: Could not open port COM3: [ERROR 5]: Access is denied.

Any help with what might be going on?

Re: Printer not recognizing port

If it is under other devices then Windows does not see a driver for it. Try reinstalling the usb drivers.

What was on it before you updated and why did not just use the regular Marlin branch. Seems the one you say you used is custom and specific.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: Printer not recognizing port

Hi, I did that, still the same problem.
Is there anyway to check if/why Windows is not seeing the driver for it?

This was the firmware that was previously used on the 3D printer by previous owner, so I just updated the same one.
