Topic: Is it possible?

Hey folks I have a Da Vinci 2.0. I would love nothing more than to take out the second print head. Is that possible? I really think it causes more problems than anything. Not to mention I almost never use it.

Re: Is it possible?

As I was looking at my original stock print heads. It looks like I can totally take the second head off.  Would that cause the printer to not print? I know this thing looks for everything on boot up and mine is basically stock. Just curious. I am so sick of the dragging of the second head. Its driving me nuts!

Re: Is it possible?

I would say yes it is possible you would just have to do a modified carriage. You can go with a pico or e3d hotend.

Da Vinci  AiO with firmware 1.1.1 using xyzscan 1.1.18
E3Dv6 hotend with custom carriage with Borosilicate glass bed
123D Design and Simplify3D, Replaced PS with a Solidgear Flex320
Zerokart resetter,  Installed a Extruder Controller for higher temps

Can I just unscrew the second hot end and unwire it?

You would need to leave a the hotend heater and thermistor attached or the machine would fail the power up self test. It looks for both devices to be present and connected at power up. You might can get away with disconnecting the heater, but the thermistor absolutely must remain attached even if you are not using that channel it still looks for it at power up since the firmware knows there should be two.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Or flash repetier and you can do away with the 2nd extruder altogether.
