Was curious if there is something I can do or someone that can turn the chip from reading it as ABS to PLA?

Why not just buy a PLA Cartridge? They make both know as the 2.0 is able to print PLA as well. Or if you need an ABS cart just buy an ABS cart.

I asked that because I need two and have only one. It's pretty stupid that xyz requires me to have two in at the same time even if I just want to use one. I also have purchased tons of cheaper 3rd party PLA filament. So that's why I asked.

There are several cartridge resetters out there that let you change the variables on the cartridge EEPROM. But depending on your printers firmware they may not work. You will need one anyways to reset the temperatures as the stock temps are too low for third party PLA.

I do have the upgraded PLA kit for my
2.0. Does that make a difference?

The upgrade kit allows you to print with XYZ brand PLA. Their PLA and ABS are special formulations that melt at nearly 50 degrees lower than third party brands. Most third party melts between 210 and 240. The stock settings for XYZ are 190. So you must modify the EEPROM data in the cart to raise the nozzle temp to 220 or so and drop the bed temp to 70.

Ahh thanks for that info. Well I may just hold off on the PLA until I get my new printer. I don't want to buy another PLA cartridge if my 3rd party won't work. My 3rd party ABS works great!

I just wish I had a way to try it out. Is there anywhere I can go to buy empty carts?

There was a person selling some here. You might check ebay as well. I think have a few myself. I will have to look to see if I did not throw them out. I no longer have a Da Vinci. If you PM me your address I will take the EEPROM out of the carts and just send it unless you really need a cart as well. The EEPROM would be much easier to ship than a cart. If you need a cart then we would need to negotiate a shipping charge.
