And.... so, my bad...
I went to actually order one and of course in the cart it says out of stock.  I guess I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions so soon when I actually saw them back on the site.
Something must be happening though because for a long time they weren't even listed on the site.

The good news is that MakerFarm has them available http://www.makerfarm.com/index.php/prin … board.html
I have been using one of these for some time from MakerFarm without issue.

Thanks to all for your contributions

they say "available" when looking thru the list, but when you go to one of the listing pages they all say "this product is no longer in stock" - not sure what is going on there...

I just checked and its showing as out of stock at RRD.  Personally, I love my RUMBA but if it ever dies I'm getting a smoothieboard.  It's barely more expensive and a lot more powerful.  The future smile

SD4 w/ RUMBA, E3D Volcano, all bearings, glass bed

Yeah, I happen to have a new Smoothie sitting on my desk.  Figure I need to at least try to stay on top of the curve wink

Re: Where can I get new Solidoodle 3 Extruder?

Sounds like I'm for the first time ever one step ahead of ward on this one hehe. I've got a smoothieboard running in my frankendoodle right now, just swapped out the Rumba for experimental purposes.

Both hosted with a raspberry pi and octoprint, printer otherwise the same.

In this configuration, there's really no difference in performance, reliability or usability between them at this stage, and Marlin's development is much faster and more dynamic than smoothieware's. Marlin actually has a few features smoothiware doesn't have (thermal error cut-offs, etc.) and development is much more... er... dynamic. smile

I think if you plan to use the virtual serial port over ethernet, or upload gcode to the sd-card over ethernet, then the smoothieware's built-in ethernet could potentially cut out the raspberry pi / octoprint from the toolchain (but then, monitoring not really practicable).

Otherwise, swappable drivers and Marlin are both pros for the Rumba. I'm nearly considering going back... smile

I'd be interested to get some notes from other smoothieboard users about things they've done with theirs that makes for an improvement over a good ramps/derivative+marlin setup.

SD3. Mk2b + glass, heated enclosure, GT2 belts, direct drive y shaft, linear bearings, bowden-feed E3D v5 w/ 0.9° stepper

The good news for me is, I'm pretty sure I know where I'll be turning to with questions wink
