Topic: Z-Axis issue

My bed is unlevel dipping forward, the auto-leveling compensates for this by moving the bed up and down as the print head travels along the Y-Axis.  The Z-Axis raises smoothly but does not lower smoothly, it has a skip or judder as it lowers.  This only seems to happen for the first 5 or 6 layers then it smooths out.

I'm thinking there might be an issue with the z-axis screw or some sort of backlashing occurring but I don't see an easy way to pull apart the Press to inspect the screw.  Has anyone experienced this issue or managed to find an easy way to expose the z-axis screw?

I've noticed this issue too.

Can you manually raise the front of the bed?

What do you mean?  It's not possible to manually level the bed if that's what you mean.

Re: Z-Axis issue

Did you solve this?

I have a similar issue.  The bed bounces up and down when lowering through certain areas.  If I press gently upward on the front of the bed, the bouncing stops.

Rather annoying, as it causes bad alignment and missed gaps during a print.

Re: Z-Axis issue

This is a backlash issue on the Z-Axis, the only way to solve it seems to be with an anti-backlash mechanism of some sort.

Here's a link to my manual bed leveling thread where we discussed this.
