Topic: Crushing Sound on Maiden Voyage

Hi,

I got my Solidoodle Press yesterday... finally. :)

So I just started it up (day 1), loaded a file, the filament and extruded 10mm with no problem. When I hit HOME in Printer Config to make sure each axis was right, the bed went all the way to the top and kept trying to go through the extruder. I played around with it some, but it didn't help much.

It made a horrible crushing sound and the motors would not stop. I had to force stop it (pressed the button on top).

I tried to call tech support, but there doesn't seem to be a number. I sent an email.

Please help.

You might want to do some reading. This issue has been discussed at length already, as well as the many others you will no doubt encounter with your Press. Start with the stickies.

Yep.  The Press makes some awful noises sometimes.  In your case, it sounds like your z probe did not deploy.
