Is that the split version?

Yep. The other half is ARLRmodtrig thor DIST2 22LR V3.STL

The non-split version is v3 assy.STL.

I don't think you will need support to print this. Your biggest issue is going to be the threads.  I would suggest printing it at .1mm and vertical with the buffer tower against the bed.  Make sure you have the fan mod in place though.

Edit: with the trigger guard I would just design a piece of support for it and load it into slic3r and position as necessary.  Another option would be to design support for the buffer tower and print it vertical the other direction (with the buffer tower in the air)

also, if you plan on putting the part to actual use I would use 100% infill.

Re: Preserving the second amendment -Building the plastic gun

So it looks like Thingiverse has in fact banned most of the weapon stls. DefDist setup a new STL site in response.

Re: Preserving the second amendment -Building the plastic gun

I figured the 15% infill would mean it would get mangled if ever used to fire off rounds.

Ahh. very true. Did you print it at .3mm?

What direction did you print the trigger guard?

Re: Preserving the second amendment -Building the plastic gun

Yep, .3mm. I printed the trigger guard on its side, so I had a bunch of strings being printed into mid air (no fan mod either) near the screw holes, but I just took a metal file to it afterwards to knock em all off.  It has a pretty nice fit still and it looks better then the other trigger guards I saw around.

Re: Preserving the second amendment -Building the plastic gun

I'm not sure how many people follow the news and what people in NY are doing. But It will now be illegal to own a high capacity magazine and a class b felony to own more than 3 fire arms in the state of ny If you own more than 10 fire arms you will be going to prison for a period of 20 years.

Re: Preserving the second amendment -Building the plastic gun

I feel sorry for all of us...because I promise this is the start of another civil war...the feds have gone to far with their attempts to roll back our constitutional rights...question is...how long until the lines are clear enough to pick a side and start shooting the treasonous, commie scum.

I am and will always be a proud Texan...we actually have laws being made here right now (as well as fast-tracking gun courses) to state we can arrest feds for violating our right to bear arms.

Sucks a ton that that psycho dickhead went in and murdered babies, but 1 explosive device would be much worse and much easier to produce than any firearm....nearly anyone can compress explosive material into a container and light a fuse or push button to trigger a blasting cap....evil actions that hurt other people should be condemned, but not at the cost of loss of freedoms that were put in place to protect us from government...especially when they have and will use all we have created against ourselves...not to mention the fact our gov has killed 100ks + person's in the last 10 years...20 ain't shit...they would  kill 100ks of us if they are giving enough reason and if not for the fact they can't stop a uprising of mass numbers..the feds go in anytime any grp of people are building up enough strenght to actually resist....the Branch Davidians  (like 10 min from my hometown...gun  happy Quakers..)...those people were nice people...never bothered anyone...not even sure that their was actual molesting going on...seemed more like gov officers forcing stories...from what I personally saw and knew...they just had guns...and made it known they would defend their right to religion of their choice = extinct...will you let them end your bloodline as well?

Re: Preserving the second amendment -Building the plastic gun

DefDist released their v2 30-round mag, looks like it is to big for the SD2 though (~180mm long).  I think these gun stl's arent really that big of a deal though so far.

I wonder what will happen when there are 100 round drum and IED blueprints though.

my favorite comment under all of that...

"What is needed to use the “Certificate Trust List” files…? Or are they not used by the 3D printer…?"
