I did and I am happy about that decision.  I told him in the beginning I'd support this project and I am nothing if not a man of my word smile

I'm all ordered.

Re: Printable Turntable Laser Scanner

Love it! What's the scan volume? The KS page shows 8x6, but, that's missing one number, unless one is a diameter. wink

Re: Printable Turntable Laser Scanner

I'm hoping there are still some left by next friday.
Congrats, hairu! Looks like this will be a great success as you are already 300% funded

Yup.  It's 8"x8"x6" where 6" is the max height.

Is there anything other than mechanical that limit that height?

The scan volume is determined by the view frustum of the camera (which is determined by the ratio between the sensor size and the focal length).  The easiest way to increase the scan size is to place the object deeper in the frustum, ie: increase the distance between the camera and the turn table.  Of course, this will also reduce scan resolution.  Other ways to increase scan volume would be to use a camera with a more desirable view frustum (could be difficult on the Raspberry Pi) or to place a wide angle lens in front of the camera (this would be tricky to calibrate properly and would require software changes but is possible)  I just added a FAQ section to the Kickstarter that talks a little bit about what can be done to increase the scan volume.
