You were unable to understand the setup guide from http://www.soliwiki.com/E3D_extruder ?

It's very easy to change.

Did you print the mk5 extruder mount before you attempt this?

Powder coated steel enclosure, 1/4" Surface grounded hardened aluminum plate, MK2A Heat bed, .200 Polished fused quartz plate, Machined quick change hot bed mount, E3D hot end, Ramps 1.4, DRV8825 stepper motor drivers

Re: E3D extruder on a new SD3 FW HELP..

Every thing is done, I just need help on the FW, yes i used the setup guide, but to me it was more for the SD2, maybe i missed something?, This is the part that im not sure about, It has follow the instuctions[1] LINK and there is nothing there??

" Printrboard firmware update process

If you have one of the more recent Solidoodles with the Printrboard, follow the instructions [1] for updating the firmware. Ignore the rest of this section except for the table of changes to the Configuration.h file below"

Actually, I have an SD3 and wrote that by describing my own process; I don't even know what adaptations are required to make those directions work for the SD2, if any.

If it's the firmware steps that are puzzling, I can only say, I agree.  They're pretty much just a copy of someone else's instructions, and all I did was interleave steps.  I wasn't able to find out enough about the firmware update process to make the directions more clear, and the folks who do understand the process, don't understand what's unclear about the directions.

Hey HG,
Yes it is puzzling on the FW for me.. The guide on  putting it together was AWESOME! Thank You..
what i  meant was the part for the FW is more for the SD2 or the SD3 with older board is what i should of said.
Im going to try to get this figured out tonight I HOPE...

Thanks for your time.

Re: E3D extruder on a new SD3 FW HELP..

All you have to do is adjust your max extruder temp and your sensor type if you use their thermistor that they provide.
If you need help with locating that I can help guide you however there is documentation all over the forum regarding this.

Hey Jake,
No not for me, I got sick with the Flu so i haven't messed with it, but every one seems to think it is easy to do, but no one has shown how to do it. I'm sure once we do it it will be easy .
