Yeah someone left a comment on my site (James) that he had passed my site to solidoodle, their PR person got in contact for some info and then passed it on to all their media contacts.
My site's getting hammered but in a good way, what's interesting is seeing all the fourm topics poping up (because I can trace them back with google analytics) most of them seem to read the first 2x lines of the article and then, I guess, make up the rest in their heads and comment on it (or they they have difficulty with reading in general perhaps), some of the more interesting one are that the plastic won't hold together in a road situation, or the best yet "Australian man..." (Arghhh!)
I wanted you to get proper credit for an awesome job. You are showing the versatility of 3D printing & the media needed to have a story that didn't involve 3D printed doomsday devices & such.
Solidoodle was showing all of these "SD sized" prints, so I figured they could show something slightly bigger than "SD sized".
Also, regarding the forum topics, I love how people aren't reading the whole post & then commenting, it just shows how short our (collectively) attention spans are becoming. For instance, I linked a story about how certain groups are putting pressure on fast food chains to bump up their wages (collectively) to $15 an hour (approx). People's initial reaction is that they wouldn't be able to afford it & jack the prices up, then if you clicked past the initial headline (the attention getter) you learned that McDonald's could do it & the price hike would only be about 68 cents on a Big Mac, & respectably for other meals. (HOLY RUN ON SENTENCE BATMAN!)
What happened when my brother read the linked headline? Went off on a tangent on how paying fast food workers $15 per hour would highly undervalue his job in health care & make college unattractive to the masses & cause all kinds of inflation, yada yada yada blahzay skippy woo woo woo.
Again, if you can't get ALL of the relevant facts in to the headline, then it's going to get rumorized.
(Had to post the meme I generated, it makes me laugh)
