Topic: Cubing Models??
Is there a way to turn a model into a bunch of cubes? I know there is decimation for reducing triangle counts. But what about approximating with a lot of cubes?

All 3d models are based on polygons which are based on triangles. Only 2d models are based on cubes. So unless you had a way to remake the model based on cubes instead there really would be no way to do it. Plus there is the fact that all 3d modeling software is based on the polygon as well. I am not versed in all modeling software but I don't recall seeing any 3d software that dealt with cubes. It would be harder to make curved surfaces based on cubes. They would end up with aliasing artifacts as well as less defined edges.
It wouldn't be perfect, but if someone wanted to know on the larger scale how to create a model using cube blocks whether they be legos or construction blocks I am wondering how such a approximation could be made.

It would require software designed for that specific purpose. Here is an exact example of what you would get..
In fact it seems this site does just what you want.
Groovy.
