Is it possible to use two spools a day? I guess if you ran more than one machine. I often do prints that run 8+ hours and barely use 1/4 of a spool.

I would think a tag emulator would be the most economical since all you have to do is reprogram it when you install a new spool. You never have to buy tags and you just reuse the emulator on the same machine for ever.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

What I was trying to say: it may not be feasible for the casual newbie user to get into soldering a DIY emutag solution or buying these modules just to get started with their printer without buying overpriced genuine spools. As you may have witnessed, there are lots of newbies around here (including me) which only print for fun here and there and cant get into details quickly, thats why ive created the two click app.
I meant no offence, every solution featured here has its place and use, but not necesarily for the guy that got its printer yesterday for birthday and is crying for help in these threads.

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Hello,

Im using a Da Vinci Nano which just updated its firmware to Version 1.1.1.

I've generated dag data using the NTAG Edit Tool v1.30. In the tool I selected the desired material (PLA) and color (white). Then I saved the data to a file:

page 00: 04E4432B
page 01: 2ADA6180
page 02: 11480000

Looking at the data the following points out:
- page 2: no hardware locking enabled
- page 41: authentication disabled

Is there a reasing why the tool doesn't enable authentication?

Then I programmed this data to a new NTAG213 tag using the Arduino and a simple sketch.
The printer ran nicely with this tag. After a few prints I read the tag data and compared it to the original file:

page 44: 176B0000 - 00000000 - PACK: always reads zero

Apparently the printer has modified the tag more than expected.
Especially
- page 2 lock bits have been set locking some pages
- page 8 (material and tempeature) has been modified (last byte)
- page 11 should be the same as page 10 but has been set the the previous available lenth
- page 20-23 contain the remaining length as expected
- page 41 remains unchanged leaving authentication disabled
- pages 6, 7, 15, 16 (originally blank) are filled with data

Conclusion:
The NTAG Edit Tool still seems to work with the latest firmware of the Da Vinci Nano.
However it seems like some pages are used differently than found in many reports like
http://www.soliforum.com/topic/15815/xy … w-hacking/

Maybe someone has some more insights on this.

Are there any good reasons updating the firmware of the printer?
Doing this may risk that the generated tag doesn't work any more. Or am I wrong?

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

The rule of thump for Printer firmware updates for any brand printer or for any device really is that unless an update says it will fix a specific issue you have then don't update.

Most of the time an update usually breaks more than it fixes.

Your TAG is partially locked and is garbage now. Use EmuTag or Papertags.

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Hello,
I just received my EmuTag today... but I don't get it...
What do I have to do so I can use my XYZprinting junior 1?
Thanks for anyhelp I can get

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Hi,

use the android app from here
http://www.soliforum.com/post/152205/#p152205

- Set the switch to UNLOCK
- Read the EmuTAG with the Android app (hold the emulator under the cell phone in a 1 cm)
- still keep the EmuTAG  under smartphone, select parameters and klick generate
- Set the switch to LOCK and install it in the printer

If you have forgotten something or made something wrong, simply set the switch to UNLOCK and generate new parameters. Install the LOCK position and reinstall it in the printer.

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

I did follow your instructions, here is what I have, the EmuTag in unlocked mode and when I generate tag, it tells me "succefully tranfered" But on my printer it says "unidentified spoll".

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

And it always tells me " tag status: locked"

37

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

After transfere the parameter to Emutag, I lock it like original TAGs to be more genuine/authentic.

Your problem is not here.

Please try use "Valid/Random UID" option

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Still the same problem... is there a way to use Windows 10... I downloaded the program, but don't know how to make it work?

Thanks alot... that did solve my problem. It is working now.

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Well, i was thinking of doing same solution like Klaus but i see the EmuTag costs 40$ ... well i found an official unlock-tag in the oficcial xyz-store for 59, after registering that with your printer you never again have to rewrite or so, just hanging it over spoolholder and done....seems the better solution in 2020.http://soliforum.com/i/?mfKpgJA.jpg

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Hi all, I have received one  <open smart tag>. Before activation, DaVinci shows the following:<unidentified spool>.
You need to run XYZ Ware and activate the Tag. Activation is associated with a specific printer and cannot be canceled (you must confirm this before activating).
Once activated, the information shows that you have a filament of 1000m capacity and 1100m available. It's strange and I wonder how it will work.
If interested, I can keep you informed. See attached photos.

How does it work?
I’m considering this over the other choices.

May not need this after all, see my post:

Hi,
it works the same as if you had paper tags there, but the length doesn't decrease.

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Hello

I got my ARC122 USB CardWriter/Reader. I tried a couple of Windows Software. I am able to read al my TAGS, but nothing else! I Tried the following Programs; NFC21 Tool, GoToTags Windows, nfctoolts-latest (nfctoolsgui.exe)

Because I refuse to buy/use an Android Phone for this purpose! I need a Windows or Mac Solution!

I also have a MacBook with both (10.13 & 10.15). If their is software for this it would be also great, but windows would be easier because the NFC Edit Tool only runs on windows?. Are their any instruction for doing the Edit/Write on Windows?

Re: NTAG Edit Tool - [DaVinci Junior & Mini]

Hello Fellows

I lost the interest in the "da Vinci mini w" and their Concept of TAGS etc. I will sell it in ebay.ch or Ricardo.ch and buy an Resin 3D Printer which is also better choice for my purpose! (Figures für RC Boats).

The Reasons:
1) that XYZPrinting break my 3D Printer with Error 0061 after Firmware Update and want money to sell me a new mainboard
2) the killing the TAG of my Original Rolls of Filament that disabling of original NFC Chip because I downgrade to an older Firmware.
3) I lost my WLAN functionality after downloaded to 1.2.9. (1.1.9 gives me back WLAN but killed my last spare NFC Tag)
4) the Windows Software for NFC CardWriter/Reader doesn't allow me to reformat(initialize) and edit the paperchips. I am only able to read Parts of the NFC tag

I only want to print some Figures, not playing with buggy Firmware and TAGS Issues. I am not an masochist ;-)

Strange is that nobody is able to help me with the Windows Issues? I don't want an Android Phone to program the TAGS. I thought 90% of the Users worldwide uses Windows, so 90% of the 3D Printer will be get prints of Windows based PC's
