Topic: 123D Creatures

Tried this out on a iPad mini, very powerful software. I recommend picking it up for the starter price of $1.99 before it goes to $7.99.

I already bought that and it works pretty good.  Takes some getting used to though.  I haven't made anything good, but did notice that the polygon count is pretty high, so can make decent stuff with it.  Now only if Autodesk would fix their 123d Design app. (Needs importing added back in and on iPad dialog boxes for size when creating something and sketching)

Re: 123D Creatures

Hi all,

I got this software and it is very cool. I exported a model but it is exporting to .OBJ. I couldn't imported the file into 123D Design to add a base and generated the STL file. I tried loading the .OBJ file into Slic3r but it doen't accept this type of files.

How to you convert from .OBJ to .STL?

Thank you in advance for your help,

CB

You have to use a real 3d app, like Blender 3d, Lightwave, Cinema 4d, 3d Studio Max, etc then from there save as an STL file.

For some reason Autodesk removed importing from 123d Design when took it out of beta.  Without out that and a couple other features I don't recommend using 123d Design unless you create everything needed with it.

Re: 123D Creatures

The makerware (Free download) software will import .OBJ files from 123D creature. There is a save option that will allow you to save the object as an STL file.

I recommend MeshLab.  Its free, lightweight and open source.
