Topic: extruder frustration

so my printer finally arrived although not after one last soli-problem of sending it as a full price printer rather then the preorder = MUCH higher import taxes .

i did experience the bumping with the extruder grub screw so i followed the tutorial but my 1.5 hex screwdriver wouldnt properly get into the tiny access channel so i couldn't properly tighten it. I disassembled the extruder.... BAD IDEA.

i now have a dead printer because there doesnt seem to be any way of actually reassembling the extruder. every time i try the spring pops out of its housing on the plastic piece end.

anyone have any tips/ incantations/ suggested animals to sacrifice to Imhotep that might solve this?

Re: extruder frustration

To get mine back together, I notched the plastic to seat the extruder spring and held the other end in the slot with a flat screwdriver.  There are a few threads on this already... I hope it helps:

Re: extruder frustration

I never did get my spring back on.  I looped a couple of rubber bands around the black lever and the bottom edge of the plastic side mount, next to but not interfering with the little bump that presses the limit stop.  Works like a charm and is tension-adjustable, in a sense...  smile

After about a week and a half one of the rubber bands broke, probably because of the heat since it's close to but not touching the hot end.  But I got a whole bag of rubber bands so I'm set for a while.

Re: extruder frustration

Anyone had any luck using a sticky substance..maybe bit of chewing gum to hold the spring in place during reassembly?
