Topic: New 1.1.34.4 XYZware

New here, but thought I would post this for discussion. Looking at release notes and see the following

New features and improvements:
Support new printing file type for .3mf format.
Support refill filament to print.
Add nozzle head registration toolkit when install new nozzle head for daVinci 1.0 model.

Wonder what refill filament is all about?

It might be worth asking them?
Not that I have had any answers to date from them.

Re: New 1.1.34.4 XYZware

Good point, let me send it off, maybe the'll answer, maybe not. They have been talking to me as i'm having an issue and am about to send my printer in for service, so who knows on general questions.

Another thought is if they have an update to change carts mid-print. From what i understand now though, the SW will prevent the job from starting.

Ok, question sent off on #2, they typically respond during the night, but who knows, sometimes in the evening.
I'll post response if I get one.

They now sell refill kits. It consist of a spool that is inserted into one of your old carts and yes a chip is included to replace the one in the old card. So you are still tied to a chip. There is already a thread posted here regarding this and they have video on their website showing you how to make the swap.

See this thread..

Re: New 1.1.34.4 XYZware

Hmm, but that shouldn't require a SW update to XYZware. With a new chip, it would be seen as a new cart, so not sure why they would update the SW for support. To me, this is no different than me swapping an empty cart with a new cart i bought or a refilled cart with new chip. Maybe I'm missing something though.

The new software is for the other things listed. They are simply telling you that you now have an option to reload carts but it is not software related. It is simply marketing.

Re: New 1.1.34.4 XYZware

It seems to have been a short lived release... it's already been pulled and its back to 1.1.33 again.

Re: New 1.1.34.4 XYZware

Good thing to see tech support in other countries are disconnected from the engineering / development community as well like the US.
I questioned response #1 as I was inquiring with XYZware software revision change and they comment on firmware. Response #2 is what followed.

Response #1
The firmware update is needed for the printer to support the PLA filament that will be released soon.

Since the printer now only supports the ABS filament in the new firmware it will automatically detects that the new filament installed is a different type of material and change settings that will support the  material characteristics.

Response #2
Please always update the xyz ware and firmware to the latest version. However, the printer will distinguish different filament automatically.
