Topic: Can't print for more than an hour
With one Solidoodle dead because the hot end simply and suddenly stopped working, I'm trying to get my 2nd Solidoodle working. I can get it to print for an hour or so, but then, when I look around, there it is waving the extruder around in the air above the print.
If I heat the extruder, and push the filament through, it seems fine. For a while. I've ruined about 7 prints this way, with it cutting out between 15 minutes and 90 minutes into the print.
At one point, it seemed to be really jammed up: I pulled a lot of plastic out using guitar strings.
Using Solidoodle black ABS at 210 and 100.
I have two replacement hot ends coming in from Solidoodle. I suppose I could just replace both and see how that goes. Frustrating that it is so unpredictable and so unreliable. The first printer worked more or less perfectly for about 2 months right up until it croaked. Seems like the Solidoodle is like a Jaguar: spends a lot of time in the shop.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
