maybe some Heavy construction equipment like Army corps of engineers used or some military fire rescue type units could be done including air suport vehicles both land and sea based. like Oshkosh P-19 ARFF fire foam unit
flame thrower tanks...

Re: Printing Showcase

I finally had a chance to paint and finish a couple of the World War 1 tanks from m_bergman's collection on Thingiverse.  I print them at 200% scale (so they are the same size as my Flames of War models).  I get the best results by printing them 'nose-up'; the details print better, but there's still a lot of support material to remove.

The FT-17 is a French light tank, while the Mark I is a heavy British design.  I painted them both to match tanks in the Bovington tank museum in the UK.

Once I started painting and finishing the tanks, the level of detail is much more noticeable.  I'm impressed with the effort that's put into these models.

Re: Printing Showcase

they are very nice. I get great detail at N scale size too 1:160th also printed a GPA anphibious Jeep of a dif designer on 123design in z scale 1:220th (like Microtrains had in N scale a while back in diecast white metal. detail is outstanding with a well done stl file on Solidoodle 2 printers.

Re: Printing Showcase

It's great being able to easily scale these to precise needs, and print one out!

What scale is HO?  This year, the train around the Christmas tree may be hauling a panzer!

Re: Printing Showcase

HO=1/87th scale to aprox 2.3 so your 2x models are close enough. he has posted preview of WWII pack 3 now.
I have also found a few on 123design that he hasnt made yet but they are not same scale so have to test them to find scale. some need work also like the tracks are in separate parts in same print and turrets not. we (been spoiled by this guys great designs LOL)

Knowack, n2ri: if you want early access to anything listed in the pack 3 preview, send me an email.

n2ri: I am concentrating on WWI/II at the moment, and not doing anything post-war. Maybe later, but there is just so much modern stuff to do...

Re: Printing Showcase

yeah just putting bug in your ear for later. and yeah anything after the 1960s is way to much.
as for early files I can wait just knowing they are coming is cool. still playing with the others. plus a few I found elsewhere not in your sets yet. one needs the tracks & wheels assembled and put on tank its a T-54 with round drivers hatch. then I found a tank the designer just named Russian main tank. LOL whats that mean?

I remember watching all the war TV shows and movies in the 60s-70s about the world wars, Korea and some early Vietnam. plus had family and friends in military telling stories of vehicles they used etc. still love old war movies almost as much as a good SciFi only better due to history. oh and some of the video games with the old Iron used in them. not much changed since WWII till late Vietnam when they began production of modern war machines instead of reusing old.

maybe the Dodge command car
the GMC CCKW versions I listed and a couple others pictured below

I appreciate it, but I don't want to interrupt your workflow.  Your preview of pack 3 looks great!  My airbrush and paints are standing by!

Re: Printing Showcase

just learned something that may explain why some of Bergmans models dont print/support right. I couldnt get the WWII Hetzer-1 to print right. it wouldnt do support for main gun horizontal or print barrel. instead it mad a huge box above tracks. Netfab showed it OK but I repaired it anyway and it fixed a couple dozen triangles. now it does fine. so any giving trouble repair in Netfab and retry.

Re: Printing Showcase

I tend to run everything through NetFabb before I print.  Even though objects may import and slice correctly, it seems that Slic3r digests the file better when they're fixed.

This is true with my own objects too.  I think Sketchup must create sloppy .stl files.

40

Re: Printing Showcase

that file check fine in Netfab but wouldnt slice right so I repaired it anyway and when exporting it showed some fixed triangles then sliced fine. 1st time it happened that way

cool.
hey I just rescaled and printed a landing craft in N scale I found on 123d site. I saw your list said you are planning some too. can you make one version of landing crafts either with drop gate down or separate for installing in open or closed position for making dioramas of like D-Day etc with several arriving at beach? thanks!

These are printed at 100% scale from these file sets, 0.1mm layer height.  One is printed horizontal, one is printed on end.
