Topic: Actual Cost Of Hot-end?
I know Solidoodle charges like $60 plus shipping for their hot-ends which might add up to $75 to $100, but what is the actual cost for this small and often flimsy item?

The PEEK is not cheap, neither is the machining of the heater block, the time to crimp the connectors, the CNC work on the nozzle, and the time for someone to assemble it. You won't find one much cheaper anywhere else.

I've been told $70 is pretty standard no matter where, except that quality is higher elsewhere.
You can get an all-metal hotend (higher temps possible than a PEEK nozzle for Polycarb etc) for $60 + Shipping from http://e3d-online.com/ourshop/ - but you will have to do a tiny amount of 'assembly' (screw the nozzles + heater block into the barrel top.. see http://www.soliforum.com/topic/2584/got … nted-pics/ for details and pics )
