Topic: another stl help

Im trying to create a light switch wall plate with a light timer cover and i've put the file through cloud and it fills in the opposite holes that i want here is the link to the file http://cloud.netfabb.com/index.php?key= … ab73182847

Holy Non-Manifold Edges!

Syko, what did you model this with?  The original is showing a lot of non-manifold edges.  When I run through MeshLab and look at the wireframe mesh there are facets all over the place where there shouldn't be.  I'll get a pic posted of what I see when I can download it.

The darker red in the center is a facet that is created between the 3 vertices of the corner and the inside edge.  This shouldn't be there...

I imported the stl into SU and could not get FixSolid plugin to fix the problems.  Instead of manually fixing it, I re-created the wallplate next to the other one, using the dimensions as best I could.  I exported that wallplate as an stl, and seems to look good.  If you're new to SU, I can summarize how I made it, but I'm not a master but have some fu.

not completely new to sketchup just new to the advanced stuff i've mainly used sketchup for subwoofer box design thanks for the help

It took some time when I was going from using SU for visual sketching to making watertight 3D printable things.  I realized I can simply hit undo and use those steps so here is the evolution if you want it.
