Re: RigidBot

i've been looking at this departed and the price is godo they say its primarily designed to print PLA so there is no heat bed from what i've seen but it would be easy toputone in i'm assured. it has 1000 cu inches of build space for $300 for the kit

Re: RigidBot

They also make the larger kit that has a 12 x 16 x 10 build area...almost 2000 cu inches for 500$. Makes the SD look expensive.

Re: RigidBot

Heh.  Yoda.  He's like the green tree air freshener of 3d printing.  You find one in every printer (ad).

Nice looking printers.  I will say this though.  Solidoodle can promise you a printer for $500.

These guys can promise you one if their kickstarter goes and they are able to get things up and running and still have cashflow by the time they do all that and get to your place in the queue.  For all that "maybe", they should be promising a nicer printer than Solidoodle.  You are gambling that you'll get it so there should be a payoff.

Re: RigidBot

I'm not sure if you remember but Solidoodle treated their customers to a similar experience but without the Kickstarter transparency.

They seem to have themselves more sorted now, thank god.

Re: RigidBot

The part that would have me the most scared about this printer is that these margins seem very thin.  I could be wrong but buying the electronics alone will eat up a good portion of the cost even buying in bulk.   Of course they will need to make something for their time as well.

Re: RigidBot

Someone at the RepRap forum estimated their cost of materials at under $200, so the margin may not be as slim as it seems - http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?1,169 … msg-187925

They have already raised over 300k with 35 days left. I'm pretty sure they will be fine cash flow wise...

Re: RigidBot

I am looking forward to getting my reward for backing. I threw a few bucks at the upgrades and media - 5Kg for $100, z-rods mod - $50, LCD/sd-card - $150, so my assembled BIG 12"x16"x10" should help with their margins a bit. Also getting the Filastruder, the Doodle3D Wi-Fi print server, and the Photon3D scanner. Just got to love us noob's huh?  Now - I just need a good replacement for Tinkercad (dang it).
