Re: Upgrading your Airwolf HDx /HD2x hotend to E3D v6 + Volcano

after making the above post I found my ORIGINAL thumb drive that came with my HD2x
using the Arduino 1.0.5-r2 that came on the drive and the original firmware I have been able to make the changes and update the firmware.  This is a 3-4 year old version of marlin
The next step might be to use winmerge and make a updated version
I would be more than happy to RAR this drive and upload it somewhere if anyone would be interested

I have put this off for almost 2 years now.  the second hotend setup they sent me (just before my warranty was up) finally gave completely up so I printed my Chimera mount I designed for the hd2x (no spacers or other parts needed) full 1 part print and your good to go.
Anyway,
i'm using 1.8.5 arduino
I did do the find and replace for the fpos_t to fatpos_t
now I get a ton of errors on the LiquidTWI2 file and it errors on on compiling
attached is a sample of some of the errors

my Vicki is just a Vicki LCD or that is what it says

Any help would be appreciatedhttp://soliforum.com/i/?qM2ccoM.jpg

need to see the code to be sure, but try replace for the fatpos_t back to fpos_t and see if that will fix the problem. It is possible some other names contain fpos_t are replaced by mistake. Also you may want to replace it across the whole project instead of the current file.

As far as I know, the .stl / link was never posted. If mine is down long enough in the near future, perhaps I can model it up for everyone.

Re: Upgrading your Airwolf HDx /HD2x hotend to E3D v6 + Volcano

For those that may be wondering what has happened to me, after trying absolutely everything I could think of with the copy of Marin given here, I gave up and decided to start with a fresh copy of Marlin, copying all the variables I could find from the one here.  It is working 100% better than it was, but I still don't have a functional printer.

I finally solved the thermocouple problem.  On issue I had, was figuring out which way to hook it up.  The thermocouples in the description look nothing like the one in any of the images, so eventually, I hooked it up to an Arduino.  Lo and behold, I had the wires switched.  Then, it took me a moment to figure out pin assignments.  I can't make heads or tails of those circuit diagrams and how they relate to pin numbering in Marlin.

Thermocouples work.  All of the motors work.  Heaters work, although I need to find different software to control extruder 2.  MatterControl still assumes I have only one heater.  It heats really fast though.  Holy cow!

There seems to be an issue with the controller thinking it is at home when it turn on.  The head won't move past where it is when it starts.  I don't think it's an endstop issue, but this is next on my list of bugs to solve.

Most importantly though, I still can't get VIKI to function.  As far as I can tell, its all hooked up correctly.  Without VIKI, the printer is pretty worthless.  I need to print from the SD card.

Re: Upgrading your Airwolf HDx /HD2x hotend to E3D v6 + Volcano

Is there a Mount to run the E3d on a single Hot end? I really need just one for not maybe later Ill add a second but right now how would I go about doing just one without the thermal upgrade?

Re: Upgrading your Airwolf HDx /HD2x hotend to E3D v6 + Volcano

Hey Guys i have a little issue, i made the switch, tried to upgrade firmware with the one provided here i chonly changed the lines it says to change, and when it does it looses all funcionality it just stay idle , if reinstall the older firmware it works ok, just measures the temp on the hotted at 50 degrees when its completely cold, when i send something to print it never gets to the set temp although matter control says it does, what can i do, i ran pid autotune and it does it a couple of times, then it throws back an error
"<-ok
->N205 M105*32
<-Error:Line Number is not Last line Number +1, Last Line:140
can somebody help me out?

Amazing work, but are there stl files to download?

Also it looks like the firmware link is no longer available, does anyone have it? I don't know what kind of community is left for this printer, but I've recently gotten my hands on a barely used one and really want to get rid of the stock hotend cause it's complete garbage.
