Topic: Distance between filastruder & filawinder
Hi,
I would like to know what minimum distance you put between the two devices? I have filament distortion due to vibrations when I take the filament.
Thank you.

Hi,
I would like to know what minimum distance you put between the two devices? I have filament distortion due to vibrations when I take the filament.
Thank you.
I have had good results with mine set like this: Mine seems different than most, but it works for me.
Center of Fillastruder nozzle to center of Filawinder pickup tube you feed filament into - about 22.5"
Bottom of Filastruder nozzle about level with Filawinder pickup tube platform
Laser pickup sits on a table 16" below nozzle.
I will post some pics shortly.
Hope these help
When pulling the filament over to put in the Filawinder it takes lots of trial and error.
I let the filament get about table height and gently grab the end and very slowly, as the filament extrudes, Drag my hand across the table until I get enough to thread into the winder tube.
I keep a pair of wire cutters close because I often have to trim some hoopties or not very strait sections off.
If you try to feed a really kinky piece in the tube it may hang up so be patient getting it started.
It is a challenge but you learn how to do it, but I have not gotten real good yet.
Also I put a small strip of duct tape on the feed tube so if you get a few not bad waves they won't pull your feed tube out of the holder.
If you look in the introductions section of the forum I have posted some simple mods that worked pretty well.
One other thing is be sure to put a second nut on the Filawinder spool thread rod.
I had mine loosen up and stop feeding.
Started a new run tonight.
Thank you all for your answers.
I separated a little over a meter and it works perfectly.
Thank you very much.
