Topic: And I'm done.

Alright, I know the printer is garbage, etc. I was given it as a gift so the intention was a good one.

I'm now pretty much done with the XYZ software 'experience' as the software either crashes, hangs, or simply doesn't work with their own closed system printer. I was getting so-so prints from it for a while but the new software seems to have put an end to that cause I can't even load filament. I also could not adjust the Z-offset with any instructions I could find to accommodate adding a Ziflex pad to the bed.

So, outside of the year warranty and looking for recommendations on how to re-fit/retro-fit this printer into something I can use. Appreciate the time and suggestions. Hopefully get back to putting this to some use.

I have the Da Vinci Mini W+ (red/black) model.

The arduino 2560 mega/ramps 1.4 conversion is fairly popular and well documented here.

Re: And I'm done.

If your issue is mostly with the software, try David's miniMover. It is much faster and responsive than xyz software and allow you to use Cura as slicer and convert the sliced .gcode to .3w and send to your printer.

RAMPS conversion as Tim suggested is a great project. It will improve the print quality and open lots of possibility to your printer. But it maybe technically challenge and may not be the best thing to try when you are frustrated. I would recommend you try miniMover first and see if you can get your printer back to working, and then read the instruction and get tools and parts ready and take it slowly.

Re: And I'm done.

Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded and have tried miniMover but it simply locks up as well when sending commands to the printer.

Recently I updated the firmware to 1.1.1 but this doesn't seem to have helped.

Re: And I'm done.

For miniMover, make sure you are using version 0.95 and do not connect through wifi. If it locks up somehow, quit the app and power off the printer, then power back on. Only send command when printer front led light is green.

Re: And I'm done.

Thank you for the feedback, I actually moved the printer and placed it on a freshly loaded Windows 10 machine. I performed several updates on the printer post the new XYZ software install.

I was able to move the printer Z-Offset using the software while it is connected to the PC, however it does appear the wifi is a bit useless as it is not reliable in configuration or calibration merely in being able to load print info basically is the only function.

The Ziflex bed appears to not adhere like I thought so now my prints at least the first few layers appear to be messy then they seem to sort out as they get into later layers. I don't know what this could be and I realize this is an old post resurrected but I just got back to trying to sort this out.
