Topic: DaVinci 1.0A Bed Replacment
So my glass was warped on my DaVinci 1.0.. I know there’s a lot of easy options like just getting a piece of glass cut and putting it on top of the current glass, there’s tons of options to fixing the OEM bed but I personally hate the entire XYZ bed and it’s setup so after shoving coins and other types of spacers under my glass to try and level it out I had enough and decided to upgrade it completely..
Here are the items I ordered so far:
-220mm x 220mm Borosilicate Glass and MK3 Aluminum Heated Bed DIY Kit Bundle
-[Gulfcoast Robotics] V2 Aluminum Y Carriage Plate Upgrade for Prusa i3 Style 3D Printer
-WINSINN Leveling Spring Component - M3 Screw Knob - for 3D Printer Hot Bed/Platform (Pack of 4set)
So far I have taken the XYZ glass off removed all the wiring from the original glass.. removed the original springs and leveling knobs which then allowed the bed housing frame thingy to be removed from the printer. The stock carriage that the glass bed attaches to is not level by any means.. (mine wasn’t atleast) There were four holes in the carriage originally so I took advantage of those holes and added four M3 standoffs at first I tried using four of the same length but after doing so I checked from side to side with a level and found the left and right side to be uneven by a few mm.. I removed the two left side standoffs, replaced them with two 8mm long m3 stand offs after removing a slight amount of plastic from the recessed plastic where the hole was located. This made the level from side to side about dead on.. (two 10mmx3mm stand offs on the left side with slight trimming of the plastic recess, and two 8mmx3mm stand offs on the right side.)
I will not have my parts I ordered until Wednesday afternoon, but I wanted to throw this thread out there and maybe get some feedback/recommendations/concerns.. whatever it may be. I will update the thread once things arrive and I move forward.
