I am doing some mods to the aluminum printing plate on my SD2.
I see that the fiberglass batting is attached to the backside of the plate with some type of glue or tape. It must be pretty heat resistant, correct?
It lost some of its 'stickiness' when I removed it, what should I use to re-attach?

Ya...SD support are just here to steal intellectual property...I don't think I have seen them solve even one of their own problems...The batting is self-adhesive. It is the same thing they use in automotive firewalls. http://www.jcwhitney.com/insulating-wra … 06309.jcwx You have to look around and find the correct width.
I would give silicone a go, from a caulk gun. Even generall all purpose silicone is good for 150 degrees, and you can find high temperature stuff. It'll be sticky enough to hold the matting on.

I didn't ask a second time, as I had grabbed some various bolts to test it and found it was M3. Still kinda annoying. When I wrote my post yesterday was in a bit of a grumpy mood. Had a headache and my hot end had clogged.
I for one will never ask SD anything again, ever.
I love messing with my printer but the only thing that subtracts from that joy is that it is a SD and is connected with that company. If I had to do it all over again.... I wouldn't.

We are kind of strict about what we can say or can't about the printer. Sometimes things are very wild in here, and we just can't get that information out on demand. Again, we have to say this:
Just because you don't see us working on problems, doesn't mean they aren't being worked on. We have various engineering problems being solved by our staff, and the current machine is miles from the original. However, when we explain that:
"This may take some time to fix"
People are often troubles by the lack of information. That's sort of the nature of a closed-source company, I'm afraid.

And a lot of that I really cannot comprehend the reasoning behind. After purchasing an SD it would only take a few hours to reverse engineer the whole thing. As it is such a simple design. Keeping what you are working on close to your chest, I can understand. But information about a printer that is wild and anyone can take a set of verniers to and reverse engineer only seems to exist to frustrate your existing customers and power users.
I have to agree with Caswal. Refusing to tell an owner the size of a missing screw is just pissing people off, for no good reason at all.
The last time I went to the ford dealership for info about a part for my truck they said I could buy the part from them but for some reason they wouldn't tell me the size of it.....
That's how it was with the pulleys- they sent me one rather than tell me the type so I could get my own. I still figured it out from a part number on the drive belt.
I begged them to tell me what type (part#) of resistor they use in the heating element so I could buy one myself for some cents. They rather have me send the broken one around half the globe and replace it.
After that I didn't even bother asking them about the part# for their wire connectors.
I think it's silly.
Edit: Maybe we should try compiling a list of all the known / knowable part numbers that are used in the Solidoodle. Would make replacing broken parts a lot easier (and something seems to break all the time). Maybe even include substitutes/replacements for things like the extruder plexi.

I'm not allowed to distribute part numbers for any piece of the Solidoodle. As for giving equivalent specs, this is often allowed, but for some parts it is often more effective to just replace the part ourselves. This removes one variable if you should come across problems later on - we can't imagine the sorts of issues 3rd party parts might have. I agree the screw example is a little extreme.
