Topic: [ABS-PA-747] Powder Colorant - Orange

Now for the colored filament review. Just as before, I am running a Filastruder 2.0 with a Filawinder:

...and the pellets I am using:

I forgot to take a picture of the colored pellets in the paint can, but here's an image of the loaded hopper:

I also dug the original packet out of the trash can for color reference:

My method of adding colorant is simply placing the paint can on the scale and adding colorant until the scale's reading has changed by the desired amount of colorant. Then I use a homemade paint mixer to mix it all up (just as AZERATE does in his reviews).
This is my first time running pellets with colorant through the Filastruder; I promise that the next review will do the colorant more justice. Particularly since I now have an idea of what the final filament looks like in comparison to the colored pellets.
This review actually covers 2 1-kilogram batches of colored pellets, which looks to become 3 1-kg spools of filament (since the spools I have were apparently designed to either hold PLA or have a total mass of 1kg, not just the spooled material). Spool #2 is halfway spooled as of this writing.
[Will add diameter here]
The first batch of colored pellets was a mix of 4.5g colorant to about 1000g pellets.
Here's an image of the 1st spool; notice that it is a faded orange, almost a dull peach:

The second batch of colored pellets was a mix of what should be 5.5g colorant to about 1000g pellets.
Here's an image of the 2nd spool, which started with the dull-peach pellets and now shows the orange of the second batch; it is definitely better than the first batch, but still not the vibrant orange that the colorant was:

Both spools kept a 1.63mm diameter (+/-0.01mm) except for the beginning. So the colorant did the diameter slightly.
I also noticed that the colored pellets had a harder time feeding into the Filastruder. Without the hopper shaker, the height of the pellets at the intake was concerning, but still sufficient. In contrast, using the hopper shaker as it is now causes the pellets to eventually flow over the open top of the chute. Guess I need to hook up the shaker motor to a potentiometer.
I'm sure that with transparent pellets the colorant would show better, but the natural color of these PA-747 pellets has taken quite a toll on this color. If I had more orange colorant, I would try again with 6-6.5 grams of colorant, but I emptied the last of the packet into the second batch, so...guess I'll have to move onto the other colors for now.
FYI the spooled orange is significantly paler than the image shows...maybe my dad's DSLR compensated for it.
(I would have some parts printed with this filament by now...if our ac had not decided to die this weekend. With only fans and dehumidifiers to keep our house comfortable, I'm banned from using major sources of heat like a 3D-printer with a heated bed. The Filastruder's fine though--it doesn't throw off enough heat to be a problem. I'll post some printed parts the day after our ac's fixed.)
