Topic: Moving on from Solidoodle
Well, it had to happen eventually. After 3 years with the machines, I am moving on from my solidoodle as I have found a new machine that I believe surpasses it in every way. The VORON is a recently released fully open source coreXY 3D printer that I have recently built. Here is a picture:
It is bowden but also has options to set it up as a direct drive. You can mount a V6, volcano, or chimera/ cyclops (probably my next project). I'm running a Titan extruder at the moment. I love the autoleveling and my first layers look great. The entire machine is VERY rigid.
My highly modded and nicely performing Solidoodle 4 will soon be posted for sale and I also have a mostly disassembled SD2 frame that someone will get for very cheap if they want a project. I'm probably going to do most of my 3D printing browsing over at www.reddit.com/r/voroncorexy from now on but I'll still stop by here once in a while. Thanks to everyone who provided me hints and tips on modding my solidoodle, I know I could not have built the Voron as a first printer. What is everyone else's plans for their future 3D printing projects? Are you sticking with solidoodle until it is a relic, or will you eventually move on?
