Topic: GeeTech Me Creator Solidoodle 2 Clone

Received it at noon, got it setup and running. Printing my first piece, one I have printed 40 of on my Solidoodle 3, and 20 came out usable.

So far, it outperforms the SD3 by about 20 times. Real bearings everywhere.

Power supply with a FAN. Motherboard with a FAN. Quiet as a Church Mouse. If it works this good out of the box first item...well, I'm IMPRESSED!!

The SD I bought a roll of ABS with, they put one piece of packing tape to hole it and from NJ to AZ it beat up the Z axis stuff. I have to bed it back and replace the rivets with Allens and nuts to get the Z table stable. And, it turns out, the motherboard always had issues.

This GeeTech unit was packaged to survive a 20 foot drop easily! I am SO impressed!
And, a real billet extruder that you can easily work on. No plastic stuff where it should be metal.

$404 shipped from San Leandro California. And, Linda, the internet contact, has been easy to get a hold of and very prompt, wherever she is.

Every part is equal to, almost all are better, than Solidoodle's SD3!

I AM SO IMPRESSED!!!

Cheers,
Pete

Went to Lowe's and got some 1/4 acrylic cut...we have air conditioning in the shop, it help stabilize even the SD3. I think I have everything set in Slic3r for my odd project. We'll see in a few...I'm very impressed with this Chinese clone.

Problem?
This Chinese Clone ROCKS!!

I am impressed, I'll have it running all day.

You will probably want to make sure you print spare carriages, I doubt those are printed at a high infill, unless they are injection molded.

If the Solidoodle 3 ones were printed at 0.3 mm and 40% infill...well, the Geeetech ones are 0.1.. and 90% infill. They look incredibly strong.

The SD ones looked like they were printed really poorly. These are solid, SD were a "D" grade, these are an "A+".
Sorry, the Chinese have copied an American printer made with Chinese components...and hose clamps...and outdid the original.

...oh yeah, they give us all the STL files to print our own. I needed a Z axis bolt holder and SD sent out five befor sending the correct one, and the said they could not give me the STL file....

I would route that X axis wire below the belt, it will eventually get caught where it is right now.

Thanks. Camera angle, there is at least an inch between the wires and the belt. :-)

Re: GeeTech Me Creator Solidoodle 2 Clone

one can only guess at the infill, and I hope you are correct that they are high infill.

My question would be are they printed in ABS or PLA? if PLA, I would definitely want to print spares - ASAP - PLA is brittle and will crack under the stress of properly tensioned belts. It will also deform faster due to heat from motors and/or hotend.

You may be quite impressed with initial impressions, but it never hurts to have back up parts ready to go for when something does break/melt and there you sit, unable to print new ones.

SD4 #1 & #2 - Lawsy carriages, E3D v6, Rumba controller board, mirror bed plate, X motor fan, upgraded PSU & Mica bed heater
SD4 #3 - in the works ~ Folgertech FT-5, rev 1
Printit Industries Beta Tester - Horizon H1

I'll print up spares as I get time :-)

make the time. seriously.

one always thinks they have time "later" to do it, but then suddenly - failure of a critical part and no replacements have been printed yet...

Re: GeeTech Me Creator Solidoodle 2 Clone

Do you have a link to where I could download the parts for this?  I might use those carriages on my solidoodle.  Thanks.

This is the product page for the Me Creator.  In the documents section is a link to a rar file of all the printed parts.  Be aware that this carriage design uses a single bearing that is longer than the ones used for Lawsy's design. Also, the extruder mounts to the carriage differently from the Solidoodle or Lawsy carriages.

I've been meaning to write a review on my Me Creator but just haven't had time.

Nice. I see your extruder makes plastic snow like mine.  LOL

I just slowed the speed down to 85% and it seems to have stopped. Turn up the tension also.
