Topic: How to bring heated bed to bottom...?

I interrupted an experimental print and now the heated bed is at the top.

There must be an easy way to do this, but Home Axes does not do it.

I'm not sure if I want to Jog in Z, being new to this machine and hearing horror stories about calibration.

So...how to safely bring heated bed to bottom...?

Jogging Z is the way to go, it won't affect your calibration at all.

Thanks I'll try that.

(I wonder why it doesn't automatically go down when a print is cancelled...?)

To be honest, I tend to leave bed at the top all the time. Saves waiting for it to go back up the next time you print.
I usually switch the printer off and on again when a print finishes to prevent the bed lowering automatically.

How do you get in there to clean the bed if it is high up? Jog it down a touch?

I think if you cancel a print, it may return once it has cooled sufficiently. I'll have to check it next time I cancel a print.

Re: How to bring heated bed to bottom...?

I don't use anything on the bed so it doesn't need much cleaning.
If I need to, I go in through the front door looking in from the top with the lid open.
My bed lowers automatically once it's cooled down to 60C.

Aha! Maybe I did not wait long enough...

Re: How to bring heated bed to bottom...?

Just start a new print and cancel it.
At least that is what I do and just skip the the "wait for the platform to cool" (on the printer monitor) or smth like that, and it goes down.

@owenransen

he probably uses kapton tape or something like that, and it doesn't require cleaning the bed all the time (or not at all).

Is that good? Won't that risk damage to the bed more than if you use UHU stick glue?

I've not enough experience with the DaVinci to know...

Won't damage the bed at all.
The benefit is of course no cleaning glue off the bed but you need to have the bed height set properly in order for the 1st layer to stick well.

Re: How to bring heated bed to bottom...?

I use the UHU glue stick exclusively and I've only had about three prints fail for not sticking out of the 100+ or so I've done so far.

Re: How to bring heated bed to bottom...?

IF your bed is adjusted right most of the time you can do prints that are about half your bed size with no glue. But I have found at least on mine due to the uneven heating on the perimeters that if my print is over half the bed size then I need to use Elmers glue stick which works better than the UHU stuff.

As for cleaning, you don't need to lower the bed. Just use a damp wash cloth once the bed is cool and wipe it till the glue is gone then go back with a paper towel to dry and the bed will be shiny new. There is plenty of room even at top in home position to get your hands and wash cloth inside.
