Topic: Da vinci 2.0 DUO Extruder 1 only reaches 204c

Hi, one of my da vinci 2.0 extruders is only reaching 204c out of the 210c needed.

I got one of those re-setters that is supposed to put at 210c , does not help.

It appears to load and start printing normally, but then it stops extruding after a few lines.

I have cleaned the nozzle with a wire a few times, there is was a little plastic on the wire after first poke, but now nothing.

Removing the nozzle/extuders does not seem as easy as instructions I have seen for the 1.0 , so any help with this would be great.

Everything is currently ok with Extruder 2

Scroll down the forum, there is a current topic on how to remove the extruder on the Duo - currently you need to go to 2nd page of topics.

Ok and does it sound like I should remove it and see if needs cleaning? What does it mean if extruding early?

Worth doing to check out if you can see anything wrong and it's easy enough to do.  My first filament change I had one of the extruders blocked solid so would not load or unload, could only see the issue with the extruder removed.

Not sure what you mean by extruding early.

Re: Da vinci 2.0 DUO Extruder 1 only reaches 204c

I had an intermittent issue with one of the extruders not heating consistently.  The printer would be humming along and then suddenly the filament would jam.  It turns out that the heater connectors above the carriage were making a poor connection, and when the head cooled sufficiently that the filament would no longer melt I'd get a jam (strangely no heater error though).  I replaced the connectors and the problem is solved.  This happened on a 1 month old Duo.

This makes sense-

At home position the connectors/wires might be bent in such a way to make contact and the head heats up. After finishing your first layer the head has cooled enough and boom, clicking extruder.

Re: Da vinci 2.0 DUO Extruder 1 only reaches 204c

I was able to take out the extruders they look clean. Used wire to clean inside, no filament stuck to it. Now the extruder 2 starts early. Normally it waits until reaching 210 before it starts trying to extrude. Now it is much earlier around 204-207. I will check the connections next.

Are you slicing on the stock software as well? Extrudrrs heat and move based on gcode. If one is extruding too soon then it is the gcode telling if to do so.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Yes, everything is done in XYZware , I am currently trying to figure out Slicer to work with xyzware, hoping this might help.

I kept cleaning it. Now the temp gets back up to 210c , but it only does 1 layer, then stops extruding

if you need help with slicer just ask me and i will give you screenshots of all the configurations and how to edit it to use in XYZware. If you can not resolve the problem using slicer might work.
