Topic: Solidoodle 4 in stall printer

Hi All,
Newbie to this forum and 3D printing. I have my Solidoodle 4 running good using the supplied software and drivers.

My question:
Is it possible to install the Solidoodle 4 like a 2D printer so that I can access it from other software?

I'm using Windows 8.1 and Solidworks 2015 or is there another trick to printing from Solidworks? My problem is that Solidworks is not seeing Solidoodle. Solidworks says that no 3D printer is installed.

http://www.repetier.com/downloads/ Download repetier host. EDIT: disregard, read post wrong. I have 8.1 and SW 2015 and an SD4 too let me see if I can connect.

"All your base are belong to us." SD4 with a RUMBA, supernight PS, 40mm fan on X motor, lawsey carriages with new better tolerance rods, flanged rear bearings, new NEMA 17 with leadscrew on Z-Axis, and e3d v6 with MK5.

Does the newest version install the printer as a device? The version that came with the printer didn't. Solidoodle does not support the latest version of Repetier. That's OK with me I like the current version better. I was having trouble with the printer at first. I had to go back to their version to get support. When I had the current version of Repetier installed I didn't look to see if it had installed a printer in the devices.

Make sure you ho to config>printer settings>commection, and right COM is selected for RH. Im using 1.0.6 w an SD4 on win 8.1 connects just fine

I also connect Ok with Repetier. The problem is Solidworks 2015 does not see it as a 3D printer.

Im having the same problem with Solidworks not seeing the printer.  I just received my workbench and am trying to install it without any luck.

Why do you insist on using Solidworks directly? Export the STL and use a well-supported host. Are you sure SW is even marlin-compatible?
