Topic: Looking for a 1.0 Front Door.

My Da Vinci 1.0 was used. I bought it on ebay when that guy was selling returned units before XYZ stopped him. Anyways to the point my door has some bad scratches and it is hard sometimes to see what is going on with my print without opening it. If any of you have a 1.0 that is being parted or has other issues and you would like to make some cash on the door I would be interested in discussing a price and payment through Paypal. PM me if you have a deal.

Just get some plexiglass cut to the correct size and add hinges. Cheaper, and you can really see what's going on inside quite well. You'll thank me. Plexiglass door and sides are awesome.

That sounds like a great idea. Do you have any stl files for the hinges that you can post?

Have you thought about the headlight cleaning products on the market?  They should get the scratches out.

I don't. You can use the ones that came with the machine without issue. At least, I don't see why not. On my Solidoodle the door was just on hinges that rotate on M3 bolts. You'd probably be happier going out and buying real hinges and drilling the appropriate holes in the printer frame and plexiglass.

Tha Da Vinci is not hinged, that was the issue. I did not want to drill holes in my attractive case. The Da Vinci door has an integral pin at the top and bottom that fit in the machines door frame.

Why do you need a door?
Took the door off my printer the first day
  it opened the wrong way
  never seen it since.
Is it like an oven  -- got to be closed to work
does t make it quieter?
does it make better prints

Is it not a pain in the ass while setting up / removing prints?

????

wat.

Ill say it has helped my prints by keeping the air inside the enclosure from mingling with this cold winter weather.

Yes it does work like an oven. With ABS you need to keep the entire print a uniform temp to avoid warping and layer splitting. The enclosure helps to accomplish this. It also does reduce noise although this is one of the quitest I have owned. Yes it does make prints better by tighter temp control. Your bed and hotend stay closer to their set temp without cool air hitting the causing the machine to have to adjust more which actually puts more stress on the controllers mosfets and means they both spend more time not at the desired temp with no door. PLA does not have these requirements.
