Topic: 3rd Party Filament Question
I was wondering if it is possible to use 3rd party filament without a resetting the chip. My DaVinci 1.0 is running 1.2.4. If I cant do it without resetting the chip would that work or is there no hope.

If your firmware is counting filament usage then you will have to reset the chip when you reload.
Let's talk through it logically. The resetter lets you do 2 things...
1. Reset the length of filament in a cartridge.
2. Change the operating temperatures of filaments in a cartridge.
Without those capabilities, you'd have to buy a new cartridge, take out the filament that's in it, replace it with the new filament you wanted to use, and make sure it needs to run at the same temperatures. So the answer is "yes", you can, but not like you want.
However, the resetters are so cheap (some less than $30), what's the aversion to getting one? That's less than the cost of a cartridge itself... so go through 480m of non-XYZ filament and it has paid for itself.
The xyzerocart plugs in on top of the pins in the printer and allows you to change filament length, temps and material via a bluetooth console. I've used mine for a few days now and love it. You do need to block XYZ.exe in your firewall so the printer can't communicate with Taiwan.
