Topic: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

I have flashed the firmware to repeiter host v 0.92alpha without issue. I am able to use the front buttons without issue and can get the bed to heater, load filament, perform auto calibration, etc.

I downloaded Repetier Host 1.06. I have RH saying its connected to the printer, but then I can't get anything to work.

- I do a show printer info and it says "unknown machine" and has blanks for everything except 1 extruder.
- The temperature on the bottom of the GUI never shows the extruder temperature
- When I load a 3d stl file and slice it, things appear fine. When I hit print, nothing happens. I tried to preheat the bed and extruder, but it still does nothing

I had no issue printing the demo objects before I flashed the firmware. I never ran xyzware, since I didn't want to mess with any of their junk.

I'm using the linux version of RH.

Please help!

Do you have the comport speed setting under printer settings set for the same speed that the printer is set for?

Re: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

I just barely figured it out thanks to someone on the Voltivo forums. They pointed me to a link at their site which is where I figured out the communication settings I had were wrong. (I tried to post the link here for others, but I keep getting an error about Allowed 0 links.) sad

You had it figured it out too, so thanks!

Can you point me to a default configuration for RH? The one that comes with it is not for the da vinci and I'm not sure what to put for limits etc.

I tried to change the default bed temperature from 50C  to 85C to print ABS, and when I run the slicer, it keeps generating the default 50 value. Do you have any ideas?

Re: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

For the Repetier Da Vinci setup all the settings are stored in a fake EEPROM on the CD CARD. Those settings can be accessed by clicking CONFIG then EEPROM Configuration settings while yo uare connected to the printer. In that menu you will find all the values that make your printer run including temp settings. You can also access printer settings by clicking Printer settings over on the right. In there you will find the extruder and bed temps. Once you set them you have to exit Rephost and go back in. Then you will see the temps will show properly in the manual controls. You should make them the same as your slicer settings.

Re: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

I have the curaengine, which the default and only one that comes with Repetier Host 1.06, slicing, but I'm still having issues.  When I tried to do a print, the extruder went where it was supposed to, but the bed never moved down and I didn't see the extruder putting out filament.

Does someone have some settings they can share?

Re: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

I can look at the settings in curaengine and understand how to save them now (I wasn't doing that properly before.) I still can't get a good print. It just moves the extruder all over the glass bed.

Can someone help me by providing their repetier host settings and whether they are using manual or autoleveling?

Thanks!

I only use manual leveling as auto sets the incorrect values even though the machine shows a pass. The values are too high for proper printing.

Re: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

I did manual leveling with a playing card, followed by automatic leveling using the machine interface with Repetier 0.91 RC1 (luc). After the auto leveling, it came up with a 3-point average distance value of 0.14 and I did a Store to EEPROM. The 0.14 is now what Z is listed as after I home. Do I need to wipe this out or give this value to my host (S3D)?

Thanks

If you followed the manual process then you should not have run auto cal afterwards. That defeats the process, go and reread the process and then follow it to the letter. From where you are now just count this as your stored pass and repeat the manual process from that point with paper, not a playing card.

By the way if you did this hot as you are supposed to then playing cards have a coating on them that could get on your nozzle and cause issues. There is a reason the process specifies paper, or preferably a feeler gauge but paper is close enough.

Re: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

Thanks!

I was following Jake's setup guide here: http://voltivo.com/forum/davinci-peersu … s-printing

After the hot manual leveling, it said I could check the settings with auto, but I guess what I did wrong was saving at that point.

Thanks again!

Hi I can't seem to get this to work. When I go to Config and then EEPROM Config, its greyed out. It says I'm connected but I don't see anything when I go to Printer info. Maybe this has something to do with how I flashed it? I got the firmware from user: bgm at the vovlito forums and then flashed it only using the XYZware. I disconnected the internet and selected the .bin file in the zip folder and then it worked. So I didn't use Arduino like many others did. Do you think this is a problem. Also, this problem is only the first in a long journey to getting Repetier to work safely and effectively because I'm completely new to Repetier Host.

Is there any step by step and easy to understand walkthrough to getting Repetier host working properly?

Re: Repetier Host and Flashed Firmware Hate Me

Once I got the right baud rate selected for RH and reset my default EEPROM settings from the LCD menu, I was able to start getting things to work. After that it was all about getting the bed to be level. I've printed about 7 things without anything but a clean glass bed and ABS material with no issues. Well I did have an issue with a tall print getting knocked over near the end of the build, but its due to bed alignment I believe.

I'm hoping to write a summary up of things to help folk who are new to RH and 3d printing. I'll make a PDF of it if I do.

If you also write up something about using a mac in this process there are a lot of people who have been asking me about it. 2 birds /1 stone...
