The instructions specifically call for the thrust bearing to be compressed, and then to check for 1/4" sticking out.
This is necessary because depending on how much you tighten the barrel, the position of the shaft collar may need to be adjusted. As noted in the instructions, 95mm is just a ballpark.
Also if the thrust bearing wasn't compressed during assembly, then operation most likely pushed the supports into a V. If they are not parallel, then the barrel will be sideloaded and could be damaged. Re-mount the supports on the base now that the pressure from the plastic has compressed the thrust bearing (which again, should have been done manually during assembly).
Then heat to 190C, remove the nozzle, pull the plastic out with needle nose pliers, and check that the auger sticks out of the barrel 1/4" +/- 1/8".
Other thing to check is that the barrel's cutout is still within 45 degrees of vertical.
