Topic: I just want to tell you that I'm happy! (FUBAR S2, returning to life!)
So, I had my Solidoodle 2 for almost a year now, and it's been out of comission for most of it. I had problems with the bed being warped which made it impossible to print large items, I had the motherboard dying on me, I had the VREFs on the replacement board being wildly off calibrated, I had problems keeping the printer powered!
Things that happened:
- new flat bed with a nice brand new piece of kapton (courtesy of Solidoodle)
- new un-calibrated motherboard (replacement from Solidoodle)
- scotch-taped the powerchord to the printer so it stays in position and keeps the machine powered
- connected a 60mm fan to the computers PSU and attached the fan towards the motherboard, keeping it cool!
Now I told you I havn't been able to use the printer for most of the time, I had serious issues with the Y-carriage misbehaving, and later the bed and heater couldn't be heated at the same time. I tried every kind of calibration there is, adjusting VREFs, lubing the rods, reinstalling computers, drivers and software, tweaking settings, changing USB-cables. Nothing worked.
Then I was moving stuff around and I unplugged the chord from the poweradapter, and later of course plugged it back in. A simple "disconnect/connect". Voila. Printer runs. Flawlessly.
I'm confused to if I should be pissed that all my problems was caused by I don't even know why that would solve anything (but a similiar thing works when fiddling with computers, detaching and reattaching the ATX connectors to the motherboard from the computers PSU when the PSU is bad works as a temporary fix sometimes), or if I should be happy that I finally can play around with one of the most expensive toys I ever bought. I'm leaning towards happy though, my pieces for my very own boardgame is coming along nicely! (a project that's been on hold since the printer stopped working).
