Topic: House Ornament

My wife likes to collect ornaments on a house theme, so I made one of our house.  This is almost, done, missing only 2 doors and 1 window.

I modeled it in Alibre, and used Agisoft Photoscan to capture the window boxes, which are printed separately in green.  The window lites are printed 1 thread thick, 6 layers high and glued onto 2 layer squares of Crysta-Line Yellow.  The ground plane is 100mmx90mm.  The paint is a bit rough since it's my first time doing something like that, but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Re: House Ornament

Nice job Ian.  What was the paint that you used?  Anything needed to prep the ABS before painting?

Put it inside a snowglobe!

Re: House Ornament

The plastic probably needed prep, but I just jumped right in.  I was impatient to see how it would look in something other than whitish monochrome.  As a result the paint chips easily and it already needs a little touchup.  I don't remember the brand, but I used an acrylic model paint from a hobby store.

Wonder if a little polyurethane spray would cut down on the chipping?
