Topic: "MINTEMP" error on SD3 prevents print

I upgraded my SD3 with the E3D extruder, and everything worked great after I updated the firmware. Now, especially if I don't print for a few days, it starts fine, then I get the MINTEMP error below. Sometimes, if I wait until the next day, it works fine for the whole print, and any prints right after. I've zeroed the minimum temps for the extruder, but no change. It's excruciating. Any others with this prob, or a possible solution? A recommend for the config.h? Does anyone know what the M999 is?

Extruder switched off. MINTEMP triggered !
Changing monitoring state from 'Operational' to 'Error: 0: Extruder switched...'
Recv: Error:Printer stopped due to errors. Fix the error and use M999 to restart. (Temperature is reset. Set it after restarting)

**The following shows in the black window in the background in Cura, but I have the same problem no matter what I use.

wx._core.PyDeadObjectError

Perhaps a loose connection to the thermistor...start checking your wiring.

Also, make sure the fiberglass sleeves are right up to the glass thermistor "bead".

Definitely sounds like a connection issue to the thermistor.  What does the temp chart look like when this happens?

Loose wire! I'll check for that. I just thought since it responded, the wires must be good. The temp chart bounces a bit in the beginning, then seems to level off. I had a stuck piece of filament the other day, and jostled it around. I'll post back once I check it. Have to wait for it to cool off.

It was a loose thermocouple wire. Now there's a smooth curve with the fantastic E3D extruder warming up in just seconds. Thanks for the advice!

Re: "MINTEMP" error on SD3 prevents print

Glad to hear you found the issue!

And, for the record, it is a Thermistor, not Thermocouple :-)

The thermistor is the small glass-like bead that is held into the heater block next to the nozzle.  The 2 wires coming from that are usually the culprit.  Check to see that they are not broken or shorted out to each other.  The tiny fiberglass insulation sleeves should also be pushed up as close to the bead as possible.  Also, check the crimp connections to the wires that go to the control board.
