Topic: My Filastruder and Filawinder experience so far
I bought a Filastruder kit last year, got it together last December and have been running it like gangbusters. I absolutely loved the kit, it had all the parts I expected, and it went together great with the nice instructions and photos that were provided. I purged it for 8 hours then started producing filament (so far only 3mm) and I have had great success with it. It pretty much has run right from the start without any issues fortunately.
I then decided to get the Folawinder so I can stop hurting myself trying to wind the filament onto spools, and so I didn't have to 'heat set' the spools after coiling them. The Filawinder kit was even easier to put together, and the only issue I had was when I picked the wrong arduino board when I was flashing the non-debug version of the code.
Last night I mounted my Filastruder on the wall, and had the Filawinder on a shelf next to it with the sensor sitting on my workbench between it. I was worried it would be hard to get 'tweaked' and adjusted to wind well but it performed like a champ. I started a batch last night around 10pm and this morning I had a fully spooled roll all set to go! The on,y issue I had was I didn't tighten the nut on the spool holder tight enough and the last 10 feet of filament ended up not spooling.
I can't say enough about how pleased I am with both these tools. I've gotten a 1.75 nozzle and will be making some plastic to see how I like that size. My last experience when I first started with printers was not very good, but perhaps now with a few years of experience under my belt it will go better.
I've gotten all my plastic from osp printing and the quality is excellent.
IMHO anyone who does FDM printing has to have these two tools!!!
Thanks for such a great product and all the effort that went into make this available to the masses!
