Topic: Touchscreen for printer

Hi,

There is a Kickstarter campaign, touchscreen for controlling 3D printer, its called Activ8.
Should this work on Solidoodle?
Would be nice to have something standalone for printing in garage yikes)

Why not just hook your tablet to it?  See my thread over in hacks and mods.  Sure tablets aren't always cheap but almost any android device would work.  You could use your phone, pick up a cheap used older tablet on craigslist...

Plus, you never know if a kickstarter will actually deliver or not.

I think that os looks really rough. Touch control does not look smooth at all.

Meh, it is not perfect but it does a decent enough job for me.  I agree that it could use some bigger buttons and a better layout of the manual controls. 

However, I don't see how it could ever be profitable or efficient to have a device as big or bigger than a tablet but have it only control your 3D printer.  There are lots of LCD controllers out there, but they are even smaller and more cumbersome to use than a tablet.
