Topic: solidoodle 3 squeaking ALOT

My solidoodle 3 has just started squeaking today and i have found where but have no clue how to stop it from squeaking. The problem is in the X-axis pulley rubbing against the printed part holding it. When i lightly slide the pulley upwards it stops squeaking for a few minutes but starts again just as bad. If you know how to fix this please help! It is very annoying tongue

thats what i was thinking but its really not the pulley and the rod making the sound, its the pulley and the printed piece that is slightly below it, its the pulley to the right that I'm talking about.

Re: solidoodle 3 squeaking ALOT

That's where the dab of grease can go - between the pulley and the printed piece! Sounds like that's just the alignment the pulley wants to run in, you could try wobbling the belt around the tension screws to try and get it to ride up a bit, but it shouldn't matter too much. In any case, there won't be a lot of force between the pulley and the plastic unless it's waaay out of alignment, so a bit of lubrication should last a fair while.

Whatever lubrication you use, just confirm on a test piece / printfail that it doesn't melt the ABS before applying it, that would be a larger problem... smile

Re: solidoodle 3 squeaking ALOT

When this was happening to me, I did the X-Axis adjustment where you loosen the pulleys at the back and then move the carriage back and forth to align them. Hasn't squeaked since. There is a video on youtube from Solidoodle.

Small clarification, I believe you are referring to Y-axis alignment (front to back).  His squeak is originating from the x-axis (side to side) which only has one belt and therefor nothing to align.

Re: solidoodle 3 squeaking ALOT

i had the same problem would go away if i put some oil on bolt and let it dribble down. but would squeak a week later.
fixed it by taking the bolt out cleaning the old grease and oil off then putting new stuff in.
would go away if i pushed it up off the carriage but the noise came from the bolt and pulley
