Topic: Evening Gents

Just about to dive in on one of the refurbished SD2 Pro's - I know I'm in for a world of hurt (x2 for being refurbished) but it's going to be an excellent ride and I know I have the patience for it. I look forward bs'ing with you guys and making the best prints I can make, and in turn help others once I get my feet wet. I just have one thing to ask, do we have a discount code for the solidoodle store that I can tack on? I posted a message in the discount thread, but I figured this was more appropriate for the into too.

Thanks guys, I look forward to making things happen.

Re: Evening Gents

Hello!
SD offers no discount to Soliforum users even though we are the closest thing to tech support for them. hmm

I specifically bought my SD2 to not only learn the technology, but to modify to my needs, and tinker with. I am happy with my printer and if those three reasons (and the price smile ) are why you are looking at SD, you will be happy.
Discounts to Soliforum users are constant. The more you read, learn, and HELP others, you will see more in terms of filaments, hotends upgrades, and even some beta testing.
Read your heart out until the printer arrives and you will feel very comfortable once you get it! big_smile

Printit Mason and Printit Horizon printers
Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!

Re: Evening Gents

Thanks man. I actually opted out from actually buying it - We (Fiancé and I) have other goals right now, to say the least. I'll have one soon enough though.

Re: Evening Gents

Maybe sometimes women don't want to have clearly female identified screennames on account of the perceived climate typical on the internet? Idk, just a thought.  I'm sure there's someone or multiple people writing a thesis about the gender distribution of internet communities but I guess I'd like to just focus on having a welcoming environment for peeps of all sorts.

(I am though, with my male-associated name, a gent.)

I do know that my one female friend who went to the local hackerspace (not many of us from uni went to the local hackerspace) was mildly intimidated by the ultra-male coder crew there. On the other hand I spent a decent bit of time at an artist gathering locale that was dominated by women.  They were somewhat similar places in retrospect, one a female-dominant scraps re-purposing place with hardware heavy stuff, and the other a bunch of male coders meeting together to foray into their hardware stuff. Both were building shit. Anyway that's not even online so I'm super off topic.

Re: Evening Gents

And... I pulled the trigger on a refurbished SD2P for real this time!

Couple weeks I'm assuming? And I got a roll of ABS grey for starters. I wanted to get some PLA because it seems easier to work with (fumes and pliability) but I think ABS will do just fine too.
