Topic: KISSlicer going down the rabbit hole.....

Has anyone checked the KISSlicer forum lately?

First of all, it looks like Jonathan (the developer has either given up or lost interest in the project.  He doesn't frequent the forum any longer, hasn't done any updates, doesn't respond to messages or email, and the only hint that he's still around, is that he still provides License keys for those that purchase the Pro version.

Most of the forum users have gone elsewhere, and in the last few days, the forum has been spammed with meds spam (mostly in Russian), and nobody seems to be able (or willing) to remove it or prevent it from recurring.  A week ago the news subforum was about 3 pages long.  As of tonight, there are 765 pages, with more than 15,000 spam messages!!

How the mighty have fallen...

I'm really sorry to see KISSlicer going down the tubes.  I liked the program well enough to buy a license, but was sorely disappointed with the direction that some people were taking the program in.  I was really hoping that Jonathan would continue work on the project and fix some of the problems.

Oh well... RIP ?!?

Edit:  OMG... The News subforum now has 17673 topics of which only 54 are legit, the rest are SPAM !!  Looks like the moderators have abandoned the site.

Yea looks like the site got spammed real bad sometime within the last few months.  Jon is nowhere to be found.  Someone else relocated the forum because noone else had enough admin rights.  I really hope he puts out some updates and doesn't give up on it!

Did he ever publish the source? It would be interesting to see how he implemented it versus slic3r.

No, he's code was private, and as far as I know he's still selling licenses, but there haven't been any "signs of life" since last June or July.

If the project is truly dead, we should ask for the source.

Or offer to buy it or hire him (remotely).  I wonder if Stratasys wrote him a nasty letter, though I would expect the download link to be gone if he did.
