Topic: First Week with Solidoodle 3
I have had my printer for a week now. I am in love with this thing. But just as with every other relationships, they take time. I received my printer the week after I ordered it. I took it out of the box and plugged it in. I already had all the software downloaded so I was good there. All I had to do was select the correct port and I was off printing. My first print never even had a chance to stick to the bed. I leveled the print bed and corrected the z tap. Out of the box my belts seemed really really loose and when I tested the y axis motors it made a horrible noise because of slack. I tightened them equally and made sure they weren't too tight. After a few prints the left belt became extremely loose. The front left y axis gear holder printed part and broke. The Screw head was pulled out the back of the part. It looked as if there was a bloody glue running down the frame where the bracket was. Not to mention my power supply was scuffed and scratched like it was thrown a couple times. The side of the carriages look burned with a hot glue gun and the bars look to be hot glued in. Did I receive a refurbished machine? Luckily I am quite handy so I was able to fix it by adding a washer to it. I printed out the part that broke and I was back up and running. All of this happened in the first few hours of owning the machine. I printed calibration cubes and other misc objects. I have already ran through half my spool of filament (1kg). I am completely in love with the machine. I made an enclosure and some bed leveling screws. I also added a glass bed and use hairspray. Those are the only modifications I have done. I sold 2 printed minecraft creepers and a yoda head. Those items combined have already payed for another spool of filament. Great buy overall and I am hoping I can add something to the community. This is a plug and play printer. The people who say it isn't just don't have logical problem solving skills or are brand new to the hobby and know nothing about it. I would recommend this printer to anyone. I already have a few people telling me they are going to buy one based on the review I gave them. That's about all for my rant. Please add comments as you desire. I have only printed at .3mm so far and with various infill settings, otherwise stock software settings. The prints pictured aren't all pf the things I have printed, I gave a Lot of stuff away.
