Topic: Best presents for someone with a 3D Printer?

OK wife is asking me what to get me for Christmas.  Right now, I'm thinking some unusual filaments like soft PLA or glow in the dark.

If someone wanted to buy you something between $20 and $100 (15- 75 euros) that might be 3D printer or Adafruit related what would you ask for?

SD2, glass bed, MK5 setup with E3D lite extruder

Do you have the E3D hotend? It is a great stocking stuffer and lets your printer print with polymers that it otherwise wouldn't be able to.

Other great things at a slightly higher price range -

A filastruder - At $259, it is a perfect companion for the 3D printing enthusiast on a budget. It really does pay for itself pretty quick.

Printrbot Simple - The only thing better than 1 3D printer is 2 3D printers (and a laser cutter, cnc machine or chainsaw)

SD3 w/ mods:

An 8825 stepper driver for your extruder, or a .9 degree stepper motor.  Each of those will double the steps/mm for your extruder and improve the quality of your prints.

E3D hotend is a good one though, maybe even 2 of them.

Ian, do you know of a fairly cheap place to get the stepper driver and motor?  I've been looking, and I've been able to find the stepper driver on Amazon, but not the motor.

I am curious about the same question, and I'd love to have some ideas to give my family so that I can improve my printer in the process.  Thanks!

I got the stepper from https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10846.  Geeetech often has drivers on sale on the weekends for $6, if you don't mind soldering the headers on.  Panucatt.com has well-made drivers as well.

How about some Ninja Flex Filament? http://www.fennerdrives.com/ninjaflex3dprinting/_/3d/  Make some flexible stuff, and let us know how it works with the SD!
