Topic: 2 questions

I'm working at getting PP dialed in for 1.75 mm extrusion.  I'm seeing the following things happen.

The filament comes out first very wide (3mm) then goes thin (< 1 mm), then thick then thin and oscillates back and forth.

The filament is not round but oval shaped.

Anyone seen anything like this?

Thanks,

Re: 2 questions

Too little data to be able to help.

The oscillation can be caused by varying melt pressure, varying output tension, and insufficient cooling.

Oval is typically due to extruding horizontally over a guide. With ABS, it is <0.05mm in diameter difference. PP may be mroe sensitive, depending particularly on temperature. Reorienting to a vertical setup may help.
