Topic: SD3 PLA setting

hi guys,

1)I have prob with large prints on my SD3;  warping , layer separated etc etc. I dont want to use enclosure to keep the heat inside and prefer to use PLA instead. Can anybody point out specific PLA setting for SD3? i`ve used search function but could`nt find the thread on PLA setting.

2) in slic3r there are few setting for print quality ( o.1 , 0.2, 0.3 0.4)  and filament. Where is the setting ( files ) located if i want to set   settings for PLA instead of overwriting on the current setting.

Thanks

Re: SD3 PLA setting

What temperature are you printing at?  You may already know, but because of the thermistor placement on SDs, the temp reads 30C cooler than actual.  So if you're aiming to print at 195C, you'll need to set the temp at 165C.  To achieve this you'll either need to update the firmware to allow for a lower temp, or pass G-Code M302 to disable cold extrusion prevention.

Many add a fan to blow on the print bed from above to cool PLA as it prints.  So enclosure isn't necessary for PLA.

I print on glass covered with blue painters tape.  Depending on the print, I may heat the bed between 30-60C.

As for slicing, off the top of my head I don't remember the exact names of the buttons, but there is one in RH to bring up the Slic3r UI and from there you can save the settings with new profile names.

Wrote a slightly sarcastic answer. Apologize in advance.

Follow this link. It shall help.

Press slicer configuration in RH for slicer settings. This is where you set settings for your slicer. You can set them here. For your slicer. It is under the slicer tab. The button says "slicer configuration" - if you push this, you can change slicer settings - on your slicer. You can create new profiles with the "save" button. It looks like a small floppy disk. For saving. As you may have saved before. It works somewhat the same for the saving.

The next part is slightly counter intuitive. When you hit the floppy disk type button, you will be given a menu. You type the name you would like to call your profile. It will do a "save as" - don't worry, as long as you type another name, nothing will be lost. This is the procedure for saving. It shall help you save.

I have made a video to demonstrate the process. [oops, no I didn't]

As for PLA, just turn down the temperature setting on your heater. That should be just fine. Perhaps about 180 or so? It's really not that finicky. Try it.

dont u think i`ve google before i asked here?. Being a solidoodle employee with that kind of attitude reflects your own company. A newbie coming to a forum looking for help but greeted with this kind of treatment i know i wouldn't  recommend this printer to anyone who plan to buy a 3d printer.
