Topic: Hello from Connecticut

Hey guys (and gals),

I just got my Solidoodle 2 last friday. So far I'm loving it even though I'm having some calibration issues.
I'm an electrical engineering student and figured a 3d printer would be a great way to learn about cnc machines and the like.
It's also nice to interact with stepper motors as I haven't had a chance to do that yet.

I'll be posting a few questions I have on a more appropriate forum section, but for now I thought it'd be good to just drop a quick hello

Re: Hello from Connecticut

I just received my SD3 yesterday. Thanks to all for the posts as they have been extremely helpful.
Lessons Learned
1. Patience
2. see lesson 1 - wait for the bed to get nice and hot and verify with IR not the thermistor (I use a mirror from Hobby Lobby with a rice bag on top)
Setting (100c for the bed and 195 for the extruder)
3. upgrade - build an enclosure to keep the heat in!
4. go through a thorough calibration and lube.
5.  Enjoy!
