Topic: All Aussie adventures

Hi all, as we know we have a few Aussie doodlers. Might be good to have a list in one spot for future reference (and possibly emergency replacement printed parts).

I'm based in Geelong, which is about an hour South from Melbourne Vic.

So if you're a Roodoodle post below smile

Re: All Aussie adventures

I'm new here.. from Adelaide, South Australia.

Just on the verge of ordering a SD3, and have been reading these forums to get an idea f the type of community support these printers have.

Seems like a pretty good place to be. Now to justify the purchase somehow!

G'day!

I'm at Razorback, NSW which is between Camden and Picton.

I've just taken delivery of a Maker Farm Prusa 8" kit that I have to assemble this weekend.

Re: All Aussie adventures

http://stores.ebay.com.au/learcnc - Ben's pretty helpful . You'll not get 150x150 neat, but he has 140x150.

Jamie from 3DPrinterGear up in the Sunshine State does the 200x200 and 220x220 sizes.. and he might be able to source a smaller sheet... but given the rarity of 150x150 printers, don't hold your breath on him having it ready to send...

Theres many many options on fleabay, including local-shippers... Just look for Borosilicate Glass :

Just remember, all glass is not alike... and the majority of people that champion just using framing glass end up with broken bits from thermal stress or head crashing... Borosillicate (or, as you may know it in the Kitchen, "Pyrex") is tempered and thus 'hardened' glass (except on the edges, where it will chip but not shatter) and is designed to be taken to high temps repetitively... consequently... whilst it might cost $15, you'll not need to replace it due to heat cycles or 'whoopsies'.

Re: All Aussie adventures

Awesome! thanks Adrian. Was searching ebay for 'tempered glass' but didn't show anything useful!

Re: All Aussie adventures

I originally went for the framing glass and hairspray, but adhesion was a bit hit and miss. I ended up going back to the stock heat bed and haven't had sticking issues since. I just needed to find the quirks of my bed, and adjust bed level to suit.
If I do end up upgrading I'll go for borosilicate and swap out the heat bed also using a kit from fleabay.
